The Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor measures soil moisture levels using capacitive sensing instead of direct electrical conduction. This design prevents corrosion of the sensor probe and significantly increases its lifespan compared to traditional resistive soil moisture sensors. When inserted into the soil, the sensor detects changes in capacitance caused by the water content in the soil.
